Team Profile:   Barbara French and Laura French Spada are a rare mother-daughter team, with a combined real estate history of nearly two decades.   Barbara’s education includes Ridgewood High School, Cornell University and Ramapo College (B.A.), with emphasis on fine and performing arts. In the years before her Ramapo degree with highest honors, she was busy raising Laura and her brother in Wyckoff and Ridgewood.

 

Her business career began in the home design publishing field; after several years of editorial work in trade publications and at Colonial Homes Magazine, she added marketing and sales experience by moving into home furnishing public relations. In the early 1980’s she entered the previously all-male field of OEM computer sales, ultimately becoming the vice president of sales and marketing for a small legal software company.   Among her acquired skills are conflict resolution and negotiation with attorney clients.   Both of her parents had been involved in Ridgewood area real estate, so when she joined Coldwell Banker in 1992 it was a unique homecoming. She has resided in the Ridgewood area for nearly 60 years.

 

Since 1992 Barbara has been a very successful member of the Ridgewood Office of Coldwell Banker, Bergen County’s most competitive and productive office. At RealSource, the local association of Realtors, she has chaired technology, newsletter, and orientation committees and sits on the Board of Directors. She currently teaches new member orientation and serves on the professional standards committee. She is also a member of Ridgewood Singers and the Woodside Avenue Historic Neighborhood Association, and is studying Spanish.

 

Laura French Spada brings to the team a business background that has always combined creative work with high efficiency.   She also attended Ridgewood High School and Bergen Community College. As an executive assistant to New York advertising and marketing executives, and then manager of a graphic design firm, she polished her organizational, marketing, production and writing skills. Later, as wife to Mark and mother to Elizabeth, Jonathan and Eric she has been a very active volunteer member of the Glen Rock school, sport, and charity communities. She remains dedicated to her family, her town, her family and friends, and now, her many clients, who recognize her energy, loyalty and compassion.

 

Laura joined Barbara several years ago as a part-time assistant, doing behind the scenes tasks that allowed Barbara to concentrate on direct client service.   In 2004, Laura became a licensed agent to allow her to participate more fully all aspects of property marketing.   It quickly became apparent that Laura’s talents and the maturity of her children destined her for a full time career. Together they are determined to grow in their understanding and adoption of the latest information and technology for the best possible communication, service to clients, and innovative marketing. They take advantage of every opportunity for continuing education, especially in the areas of legal and structural issues, and real estate marketing.

 

Now they share all aspects of the work, each maintaining her own primary client responsibility and supporting each other as required.   Barbara’s many years of market and negotiation experience is available to all clients; Laura’s expertise in handling online marketing and communication has become a new specialty that clients rely on. Together they have ramped up their numerous offerings and resources for clients.   Their listing clients and buyer customers have the advantage of access to two professionals for ready service.
